Hi. I’m in Seattle now. I came to Seattle on February 2nd and I’m gonna go back to Japan on March 3rd. I’ll have stayed here for 1 month. I went to so many good places. For example, Deception Pass, Mt.Airy(I don’t know how to spell it.),center of Seattle and so on. Did you know Starbucks coffee shop started from Seattle? So when I went to Pike Place Market, I could go to the 1st Starbucks coffee shop! I like Starbucks very much so I’m glad to go there.
Where I’m staying is countryside. Many people keep cow, horse, sheep, chicken, duck… They are so cute :> Yesterday, however, one of our chickens escaped from the enclosure and was eaten by neighbor’s dog. I’m very shocked… Anyways, rest of the days which I could stay here are 3. I should have fun. I couldn’t improve my English because my host mother is Japanese but I could have very very good time and good experience. So that’s ok♪
See you again.
My winter vacation was so busy. From December 25th to 26th, I took a Christmas party with Yuko, Machi, Takuto and gays. After we enjoyed singing at Karaoke bar, we went to Takuto’s house. During the way to his home, we found very good view point! I hope to come and seeing fire flowers in summer!! We ate much chicken, pizza chocolate cake. It was so fun♪ We just idle the next day, haha. Except these two days, I almost worked part time job. It is decided everyone had to work from December 27th to 31st. There is unusual work for the end of year. Somebody reserved special goods for the beginning of year such as Osechi and we hand the goods when people come to receive. Because the goods were almost frozen, the room we stayed was so cold. Although I had to study for TOEIC test and regular examination and write some research papers, I couldn’t do at all. I guess this was busiest winter vacation in my life.
I wanna visit my grandparents’ house! They live in Fukushima and my family visit them every summer and winter vacation. However we may be not able to go because of some difficult problem. It makes me so sad ;<
Then what will I do during winter vacation? I’ll work part-time job hardly! During spring vacation, I’m planning homestay at Seattle, the U.S. And I wanna get a driving license some day. So I have to work. Fortunately, in the period overlapping the close of the old year to the start of the new, my payment by the hour will raise two times!
I also have to study for TOEIC. Therefore I guess my winter vacation will be so busy X(
There are single-sex schools and co-educational schools. Each has merits. In single-sex schools, you have a lot in common with your classmates. Your topics of conversation, value system and ways of thinking may be similar. You can talk with your friend in classroom freely. And you can concentrate on studying and club activities. In contrast, you can encounter more ways of thinking in co-educational schools. You will come to know how to talk, treat and cooperate with the opposite sex. These are some of the differences between single-sex schools and co-educational schools. We should carefully consider the merits and demerits of each when we choose our schools.
Hi♪ Do you know “Tofu”? If you know, have you ever eaten it? Today,
I’d like to introduce you to Japanese Culture, “Tofu”.
Tofu is also called “soybean curd”. It was introduced into Japan by China in the Nara period. Therefore, although Tofu is one of Japanese food, it was also used by Chinese food.
Tofu is white, soft and tasteless. I think the most popular way of eating Tofu is “Hiyayakko”. It is easy to cook. Just cut Tofu and give some toppings you like. Everyone has his or her own toppings, I think. Someone gives just soy sauce, and someone gives chopped green onion, Katsuobushi, grated ginger and soy sauce… Because Tofu’s taste is almost nothing, any topping goes well. So you can find an exquisite combination with Tofu only you know. I think this is one of the way to enjoy Tofu.
If you haven’t tried Tofu yet, you should try it★ And when you can find good toppings, please tell me! I will try it :]

when teachers want to know the results of a quiz quickly, they sometimes tell students to swap their papers. This way to swap papers is general at many schools. However, there are proponents and opponents with regard to this issue. Most proponents are teachers. They think it’s the quickest way to check students’ results. Teachers can also save time. Proponents say this practice motivate students. On the other hand, opponents think students’ privacy have to be protected. Some students don’t want classmates to know their own results. Thus, there are both proponents and opponents. People should be careful in deciding which stance to choose.
Nowadays many children have their own cell phones. It is true there are many advantages but I think children needn’t have their own cell phones. There are two reasons.
First, most parents think if they let their children have their own cell phones, their children will be safe. Is it true? If children are drawn into an incident, can they use cell phone? I don’t think so.
Second, are there so many situation where children need to call or e-mail to their parents? I think when children become teens, they will want to go a lot of place they haven’t been. Then, cell phone will be useful machine. But children often play around their house. Is it situation where children or parents need to call? I don’t think so.
This is my opinion. In fact, my younger brother is still elementary school student and he doesn’t have cell phone. However I’ve never thought that is inconvenient. If he have his cell phone, he use it for playing a game and there are more harmful things than profitable things, I think. Therefore, I think children needn’t their own cell phones.
Human beings have the ability to learn. Then do the dogs have this ability? To answer this question, Pavlov performed an interesting experiment on his dog.
In this experiment, a bell is rung whenever food is put before the dog. Pavlov had continued this for some weeks. One day, after several weeks, a bell is rung but food isn’t put before the dog.
After a bell is rung, however, the dog began salivation. When a bell is rung, the dog thought it was dinner time.
The results clearly showed the dogs also have the ability to learn.
